The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Role Offered To Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman has reportedly been offered the role of the man whose job it is to try and kill Katniss and Peeta in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Philip Seymour Hoffman is being sought to play the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, the Head Gamemaker in the sequel to “The Hunger Games.”

Fans of the book will remember (SPOLIER ALERT!) that Plutarch is actually an ally of Katniss and the rebel forces and goes on to help the tributes escape their deadly return to the arena.

Heavensbee replaces Seneca Crane as Head Gamemaker in the second installment of the trilogy. Seneca was played Wes Bentley in the first blockbuster.

Lionsgate had no comment about the reported casting when contacted by THR.

The studio has yet to announce who will play fan favorite tribute Finnick Odair in the next movie, which is slated to start shooting in September.
