‘The Office’ Stars John Krasinski & Kate Flannery Discuss Possible New Bosses Following Steve Carell’s Exit

Following Steve Carell’s recent departure from NBC’s hit comedy, “The Office,” the series’ stars are offering their ideas as to who should replace the bumbling Dunder Mifflin boss.

Access Hollywood caught up with Kate Flannery – who plays closet alcoholic Meredith Palmer on the show – at the Los Angeles premiere of “Something Borrowed” on Tuesday, and the actress was eager to offer a suggestion for Steve’s replacement.

“Meredith! No — you know what? I’m too lazy. I’m exhausted,” Kate jokingly told Access, complete with her best Meredith deadpan face.

“No, I don’t know! I feel like our writers are so terrific that I think it’s going to be the biggest tease in Hollywood,” Kate continued. “And I’m so glad I don’t know, because I’m very weak, and I might crush under pressure! But my mother doesn’t even know and I keep telling her, ‘I don’t know! I don’t know! We don’t know!’”

“Saturday Night Live” alum Will Ferrell has temporarily filled Steve’s onscreen shoes. However, at the conclusion of Carell’s final episode last week, NBC hinted it would be one of five new faces — Will Arnett, James Spader, Jim Carrey, Ricky Gervais and Ray Romano — who could step in as the new head of Scranton’s favorite paper-pushers – and “Office” star John Krasinski said sorting out the show’s future onscreen makes the fictional office come to life.

“You know what’s so funny? We’re trying to figure it out off camera, so we figured why not do it on camera too?” John — who stars in “Something Borrowed” alongside Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin — told Access. “So all these people are coming in and doing us a solid and helping us out, but at the same time, we haven’t figured out who’s going to do it, which is kind of fun.

“It’s kind of very real, very honest,” he added.

“Something Borrowed” hits theaters on May 6.
