‘The Originals’: Leah Pipes On Cami Playing Vincent, Her Feelings For Klaus & More

As Cami, Leah Pipes is once again throwing herself into danger for her friends on “The Originals.”

She recently found out that her psychology advisor, Vincent, is actually Finn Mikaelson, placed in a witch body by his recently-returned-from-beyond mother, Esther. Vincent has been very inquisitive about her friend Klaus (really his brother), but now that Cami knows his secret, she’s going to use her strongest weapon against him – herself. Cami figured out in last week’s episode that Vincent has a thing for her.

“She understands that she has power in her sexuality and she uses that,” Leah told AccessHollywood.com of what fans will see in Monday night’s episode, “Chasing The Devil’s Tail.”

Vincent is the latest man on the show to fall under Cami’s spell, a fact that isn’t lost on Leah.

“Marcel takes one look at her and he’s like, ‘That’s my queen,’ and Klaus looks at her and he’s like, ‘There’s something about this girl,’ and Vincent’s like, ‘Uh! I just love her.’ I’m like, ‘Really guys?’ ’cause like I’m not Rosie Huntington-Whiteley over here. Let’s be honest,” Leah laughed. “But, I think what it is, is there’s something about her as a person. I mean, obviously, it’s not the fact that I look amazing in a bikini ’cause I don’t. She is a sensitive and open person emotionally, but also really strong and I think they find that intriguing.”

If Vincent hadn’t actually been Finn Mikaelson, does Leah think Cami would have been interested in him?

“I don’t know. I think she kind of definitely put up the student/teacher boundary,” Leah said. “That would have been complicated. But, you know let’s say Vincent…  just as Vincent.. as a witch who was also maybe studying to be a professor, or something, of psychology — yeah, maybe there would have been a spark. Wudda. Cudda. Shudda. But it’s not happening anymore.”

Last week, before she hatched her plan of using herself against Vincent, Cami was upset that she didn’t follow up sooner on learning more about her “advisor.” She also continues to carry the guilt that she didn’t learn more about her Uncle Kieran’s secret storage/reference area/safe keeping room sooner so she could have prevented the death of Hope (who really isn’t dead, but Cami thinks she is).

“She carries a lot of guilt with her and she has a very big conscience and she wants to always challenge herself to be the best she can be and this is her family’s legacy and she turned her back on it and it resulted in devastation. And I think more so than just this one instance, it’s an example of what could happen if she were to turn her back on this,” Leah said. “It’s like… ‘This baby died.’ I mean, the worst case scenario happened, in her mind, ‘And what other worse case scenarios could happen if I don’t take up this duty and fight for justice in the quarter the way that my family has done for who knows how long?'”

Outside of the fight against Esther, and the fight for New Orleans, Cami clearly has a spark with Klaus. Asked about Cami’s feelings for Klaus at the minute, Leah said they were, “complicated.”

“It’s complicated. I mean… Joseph Morgan is just such a good looking guy and it’s so funny he’s so sweet and wonderful in life, but the second he turns on that Klaus, it’s like you’re sucked in. It’s so intense and amazing. It’s really fun to be in scenes with him and I’m glad that people see that chemistry that we work so hard for in scenes,” Leah said. “I think it’s gonna continue to be complicated, but I don’t think that that charge is going anywhere. It’s just so deep, it’s like in their beings, they have this like soulmate sort of connection, not that they’re soulmates, but it’s like they connect on a soul level.”

Cami had a run in with one of Klaus’ dads – Mikael Mikaelson — and it helped her see Klaus more clearly.

“She feels for Klaus because there’s so much stacked up against him and so she sees where it all comes from. It’s not like he’s an evil guy, he’s actually a good guy, he’s just fighting so many demons caused by his mother and his father and his siblings and a thousand years of just of bad family vibes. That should be the tagline, ‘The Originals: A thousand years of bad family vibes,'” Leah laughed.

“The Originals” airs Mondays at 9/8c on The CW.
