‘The Strain’: FX Orders Season 2

“The Strain” will continue to infect FX.

On Tuesday, FX announced it had ordered a 13-episode Season 2.

“We’ve never had any doubts about ‘The Strain,'” John Landgraf, CEO, FX Networks and FX Productions, said in a statement. “Working with Guillermo del Toro, Carlton Cuse, and the brilliant cast led by Corey Stoll has been everything we had hoped it would be and more. It is thrilling when you have a show that is a creative and commercial hit, which is a rare accomplishment in this increasingly crowded marketplace. We look forward having it on FX for as long as Carlton, Guillermo and Chuck Hogan need to tell this epic tale.”

The series, about a team from the Center for Disease Control who are working to investigate and stop a fast spreading vamp virus, comes from Executive Producer/Showrunner Carlton Cuse and Executive Producer Guillermo del Toro.

The show is based on the books from Guillermo and Chuck Hogan, who is also an executive producer on the series. Season 2 will debut in summer 2015. Meanwhile, Season 1 continues to roll out on Sunday nights at 10 PM ET/PT.
