“The Voice’s” The Swon Brothers made a trip to their hometown earlier this week, where they were surprised to be honored with an award given to many stars who went on to massive success, including Blake Shelton and Carrie Underwood.
The brotherly duo of Zach and Colton Swon were given the Rising Star Award by the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, located in their hometown of Muskogee, Okla.
“We were surprised with a ceremony when we got home,” Zach Swon said on Friday as he came by “The Voice’s” music studio in Los Angeles, to record with his brother and sit down with a tiny group of journalists.

“There was a video from Vince Gill, a video from Roy Clark and a video from Blake Shelton all telling us congratulations. And it’s a really big honor,” he added. “It was really cool.”
“It was pretty surreal,” Colton added.

And the pair, who are in “The Voice’s” Top 5, said they capped off their hometown visit off by selling out the Muskogee, Okla., Civic Center.
“Since I’ve ever been at the Civic Center in our hometown, nobody’s ever packed it out,” Zach said of the show.
“[On Thursday] night, they literally turned people away,” Colton said. “And we were shocked.”

And there were plenty of familiar faces in the crowd.
“Half of it was family,” Colton laughed. “You start looking around going, ‘Man, I know a lot of people.’”
When AccessHollywood.com asked if any of the bullies from Colton’s childhood have resurfaced (the ones Zach protected him from, which they mentioned earlier this season on “The Voice”), Zach said it has actually been ladies from his past who have been reaching out.
“I will say I have a lot more cousins now than I had before and it’s funny — a lot of the girls that broke my heart back in junior high, they are not hesitant to send messages on Facebook,” he said.
“I don’t reply,” he added, after pausing for humorous effect.
Asked what they’ve been writing in those messages, Zach said, “It’s all like, ‘I really think you’re hot.’”
Colton quickly chimed in to suggest his brother was exaggerating, and the brothers laughed.
“They just act like we haven’t missed a beat. [Like it is still] eighth grade,” Zach added. “Like, ‘Hey! I’m really proud of you and I know we haven’t talked in a while. Call me.’”

Colton said he doesn’t mind any attention from new fans of the country duo.
“But we were talking, though. …. We wouldn’t have drawn that many people in our hometown [on Thursday] night if it wasn’t for the show… [And people we know are] like, ‘What do you think about that — all these people coming out just to see you now?’ I’m like, ‘That was the point!’” Colton explained. “And they’re like, ‘Oh, they’re just jumping on the band wagon!’ I’m like, ‘That’s the point.’ That’s the point of the show and that’s the point of our career … to create bandwagons and so we love it. I love every message I get, even from people I really wasn’t even close to [who] act like they know me now and that’s fine. I’m glad they’re doing that. It’s flattering.”
