The Voice’s Amber Carrington On Forgetting Lyrics To Skid Row’s I’ll Remember You

Amber Carrington had a little trouble with Skid Row’s “I’ll Remember You” on Monday’s “The Voice,” so she decided to fake it.

In her opening verse on NBC’s live broadcast, the young singer, who admitted to coach Adam Levine in rehearsals that she had never heard the song, missed a few of the lyrics and replaced them with a few made up on the spot. Backstage after the show she said not everyone noticed.

“People, they don’t know that song and so they were like, ‘No, I didn’t notice it, but I totally forgot the freaking words, and I made up something,” Amber told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman, backstage. “I don’t know how that happened. But, the words spilled out of me and I think they rhymed.”

Amber admitted she was nervous before she even performed the song.

“I was like, ‘This is a live show and I’m about to like stand here and not know the words,’” she said.

The singer, the lone member left standing on Team Adam, admitted that her placement on stage during her performance of the number left her a little unnerved.

“I think it was being in the mosh pit around everyone. It was kind of scary,” she said.

It was only her second and third line from “I’ll Remember You” that differed from the original song, made famous in 1989 by Sebastian Bach and company. (Amber was born in the 1990s.)

While her young friends didn’t notice the lyrics snafu because they too weren’t familiar with the number, Amber said Adam picked up on it.

“Adam noticed. I talked to his friend backstage and he had noticed, but I haven’t talked to him yet, so we’ll what he has to say. And it’s one of his favorite songs, so I was like, ‘Dang it!’”

“The Voice” returns with an elimination night, tonight at 8/7c on NBC.
