Jaimie Alexander is speaking out about her budding romance with “Twilight” star Peter Facinelli.
The pair initially set tongues wagging when they stepped out together at a “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” screening in mid-November, and now, Jaimie has confirmed their relationship has blossomed into something more than friendship.
“We’ve been friends forever and had a lot of mutual friends and we reconnected in the middle of the year,” the “Thor” actress, 28, told People. “It was one of those things where I’d been single for a very long time and he was going through a lot. We sort of bonded.”
Peter, 38, endured a highly publicized divorce from his wife of nearly 11 years, Jennie Garth, in March, and wound up working with Jaimie again on HBO’s “Nurse Jackie.”
The couple began dating, and Jaimie admits the new dynamic of their relationship is exciting, but a bit frightening.
“It’s very new to me and it’s scary,” she told the mag. “But it’s also something we don’t want to give up on because I know how it makes me feel in my heart. It makes me feel really good.”
Adding, “He’s a good guy with a great family and I couldn’t be any luckier.”
Jaimie will next be seen on the big screen in “The Last Stand” with Arnold Schwarzenegger (January 18) and will reprise her role as Sif in “Thor: The Dark World” (slated to hit theaters in November 2013).
Peter is currently filming “Gallows Hill,” a horror mystery film set for release next year.
