Tina Fey Plays Sarah Palin In Return To ‘SNL’

“30 Rock” star Tina Fey returned to “Saturday Night Live” last night for the NBC show’s season premiere, playing her political lookalike, Governor Sarah Palin. Since Palin entered the national scene as the running mate of Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain, the bespectacled brunette has earned a number of comparisons to Tina, who handled the governor’s Alaskan accent and folksy style with gusto.

Appearing alongside Amy Poehler as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the pair offered “A Nonpartisan Message” to America about sexism in the campaign.

The sketch satirized such topics as foreign policy and Palin’s religious beliefs.

“I can see Russia from my house!” she said, adding about global warming, “I believe it’s just God hugging us closer.”

But Tina wasn’t the only guest star — Olympic champ Michael Phelps hosted the show and performed in a variety of sketches, calling it “the ninth greatest moment of my life,” following his eight gold medals at the Beijing Games.
