Tobey Maguire Set To Focus On ‘The Details’

Tobey Maguire will be paying attention to the “Details” in his next role.

Tobey will star in the dark indie comedy, “The Details,” according to Variety.

The actor will star opposite the previously announced Elizabeth Banks in the film, which centers on a troubled married couple whose lives are further complicated by ravenous raccoons burrowing in their back yard.

When unable to agree on how to get rid of the pesky critters, a chain reaction ensues which eventually leads to a murder by bow and arrow.

Anna Friel, Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert and Laura Linney round out the “Details” cast.

James McAvoy, who had to back out due to a reported scheduling conflict, previously was cast in Tobey’s role.

“Maguire’s character is an everyman in the sense that he is composed of a morally ambiguous core,” writer/director Jacob Estes said. “He has good intentions, but he makes a lot of self-destructive mistakes.”

Tobey will next be seen on the big screen in the war drama “Brothers,” alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman. The movie is slated for release in December 2009.

He is also scheduled to begin shooting “Spider-Man 4” in early 2010, after he wraps production on “The Details.”
