Tom Cruise Talks ‘Top Gun’ Sequel: ‘That Could Be Fun’

Will Maverick and Iceman be each other’s wingmen once again on the big screen?

According to Tom Cruise, his days of fighting MiG’s might not be over!

Access Hollywood caught up with the star at the New York premiere of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” on Monday night, where he revealed the chatter about a sequel to the 1986 blockbuster isn’t being ruled out.

“You know, Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought about it. We never thought we could,” Tom said, referring to “Top Gun” director Tony Scott and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

“But I love working with those guys and we’ve just been exploring stories,” the actor continued. “Got to get back in those airplanes on ‘Top Gun.’ That could be fun. If we could figure that out, that’ll be fun.”

And what about 1996’s “Jerry Maquire,” that had audiences in the palm of their hand “at hello”?

“We’ve got to talk to [director] Cameron [Crowe] about that,” Tom added.

“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” which is already playing in IMAX and selected theaters, opens wide on Wednesday.
