Tom DeLay Reveals His Post ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Plans

Tom DeLay may no longer be competing on “Dancing With the Stars,” but he isn’t going back to his home state of Texas to sit back and put up his injured feet.

“I’m going to get in my RV and get my two Bichon dogs and my wife and we’re going to probably [go to] Colorado or Wyoming or something like that,” he told Access Hollywood of his post-“DWTS” plans.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Tom chose to withdraw from the competition on Tuesday due to stress fractures in both of his feet, taking his professional partner, Cheryl Burke, out of the competition as well.

“No, I won’t [continue],” Tom said on Tuesday night’s results show, as he choked up. “You can’t practice, and if you can’t practice you’ll make a fool of yourself out here and I don’t want to do that to Cheryl because she’s so great.”

The former Republican congressman revealed to Access that his “Dancing” partner, Cheryl, helped him with the big decision.

“We talked about it and I was getting her advice ‘cause she knows more than anybody about this kind of stuff,” he said.

“This show’s great and all but you know, to actually sacrifice your body parts for it? Probably not [a good idea], you know?” Cheryl added. “He’s got two stress fractures on both feet. You can’t work around two broken feet. You need your feet.”

But while Tom, his wife and his dogs travel around the U.S. this fall, he confirmed to Access he plans to take “DWTS” up on their offer to allow him to dance the Texas two-step (the number he would have competed with next week) in the show’s season finale.

“You bet I will,” he said. “No doubt about it.”
