Tom Talks Baby!

Just three days since welcoming Suri Cruise into the world, Tom Cruise is back at work talking “M.I.:3” and kid number three!

“It was spiritual, it was powerful, it was indescribable,” Tom said.

That would be the miracle of birth!

“I tell you what, it was everything that we wanted,” Tom said.

A very tranquil Tom tells the television newsmagazine 20/20 that he’s still a little stunned by the whole thing.

“What words can you use, I don’t know, and it’s still something that I’m processing and I keep reliving, you know, all of us do that moment over and over again,” Tom said.

The new dad arrived via black SUV to the Four Seasons hotel to begin his toned-down press tour for “Mission Impossible: 3” — and of course, photographers were close behind.

Photo house “Splash” co-owner, Gary Morgan, told Access that the race is on for the first picture of Suri!

“Whoever gets the picture is going to be a very happy person,” Gary said. “If somebody gets the first baby picture exclusively, you’re looking probably around the $2 million mark in worldwide syndication.”

Astrologer Susan Miller said little Suri may take after dad.

“Suri is an Aries,” Susan explained. “Aries is not afraid of anything. Aries children try anything, experiment with anything, they are very physical, so, both parents should have lots of games and physical activity for the children.”

“My only advice would be take your time because it really goes fast,” First Lady Maria Shriver told Access. “Before you know it, they’re teenagers and then you need to take a maternity leave, when they’re teenagers.”

A mother four times over, Maria Shriver knows of what she speaks! And she has a connection to the Cruise’s new bundle!

Since Suri was born in the same hospital where Maria Shriver has a nursery named after her.

“People have told me that the hospital is a great place to have a baby,” Shriver explained. “I spent a lot of time trying to make sure that the rooms were great for the husbands, were a great experience for families.  I think giving birth is such a joyous occasion, and now, men have no excuse to go home.”

Baby Suri also has been making news — confused news — in Israel.

Tom and Katie’s choice of a Hebrew-flavored name for their newborn daughter has speakers of the language scratching their heads.

Baby Suri’s name can be traced to a Hebrew word meaning “princess” or “noblewoman,” but by such a circuitous route that the connection is lost on most Israelis. Since Suri’s birth, bemused Israeli TV and radio presenters have debated the word’s origins.

“Nobody here has ever really heard of it,” an announcer on Israel’s Army Radio said during a discussion. The Yediot Ahronot newspaper agreed in its half-page splash on the celebrity birth.

“We seem to have learned a new Hebrew word — and from Tom Cruise, no less,” said a Channel 2 TV anchorman.

Cruise’s publicist said the name has its origins in Hebrew meaning “princess” or in Persian meaning “red rose.”

Avshalom Koor, who has for years presented TV and radio spots on the intricacies of Hebrew, said Suri was a derivation of Sarah — the name of Biblical patriarch Abraham’s wife — as pronounced by some Central European Jews.

“Suri is a pet name for Sarah,” Koor told Army Radio. “The Ashkenazi (Jews) of Poland and Hungary pronounce it Suri.”

In ancient Hebrew, Sarah is the feminine form of “Sar,” or lord. In modern Hebrew, the word means a Cabinet Minister.

Koor suggested a far better known but no less majestic name, noting the baby was born during the Passover holiday, which commemorates the escape of the ancient Israelites from bondage in Egypt.

“You could call her Geula (redemption),” he said.
