Travis Barker’s Band ‘Plus 44’ Is No ‘Blink-182’

WASHINGTON (November 14, 2006) — If you go see Plus 44 in concert, you’ll see Travis Barker going nuts behind the drum set, but he’s not hitting anything with his right hand. He doesn’t even have a stick in it.

Barker broke his arm during a video shoot in September, so he plays with one hand. He says he still keeps the time with the other hand by playing “air drums” because his body needs to be in motion to keep the beat.

What you won’t see at a Plus 44 concert is the band doing Blink-182 songs. Singer Mark Hoppus says he never liked it when bands would have members leave and start new bands and play the catalog of the original band.

Plus 44 do play their entire album, “When Your Heart Starts Beating,” which is in stores today.

Hoppus says he hopes listeners notice the diversity of the album.

Barker says he hopes people notice it’s more than just one song that’s on the radio, but a collection of great songs.
