True Blood’s Stephen Moyer To Star In NBC’s The Sound Of Music

Vampire Bill will soon be singing songs from the “alive” hills of Austria.

Yes, “True Blood” star Stephen Moyer, who plays Bill Compton on the HBO show, has been added to the cast of NBC’s upcoming live production of “The Sound of Music”!

Stephen will play Capt. Georg Von Trapp, in the role made famous by Christopher Plummer.

Country superstar Carrie Underwood will take over the iconic role of Maria (originally played by Julie Andrews in the 1965 film).

The three-hour production will be based on the original 1959 Broadway version of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, which starred Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel, according to a statement released by the network on Friday.

This isn’t Stephen’s first foray into the world of musicals.

In July, the LAMDA graduate starred in the Hollywood Bowl’s production of “Chicago,” where he played Billy Flynn.

NBC’s “The Sound of Music,” executive produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, will air on December 5.
