‘Twilight’ Leads MTV Movie Award Nominees

For the first time ever, fans were able to select this year’s MTV Movie Award nominees, and the Twi-hards came out in full force to push “Twilight” to the top of the pack.

“Twilight” leads this year’s field with seven nominations, including the top honors of Best Movie, Best Female Performance for Kristen Stewart and Breakthrough Performance Male, for which Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner are both nominated.

Not far behind, this year’s big Oscar winner, “Slumdog Millionaire,” garnered six nominations, also including Best Movie, Breakthrough Performance Male for Dev Patel and Breakthrough Performance Female for Freida Pinto.

The stars of “Twilight” and “Slumdog” will also face off in the Best Kiss category, along with James Franco and Sean Penn for “Milk,” as well as Paul Rudd and Thomas Lennon in “I Love You, Man” and Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy in “Wanted.”

This year’s awards will also debut two new categories- Best Song From a Movie, and Best WTF Moment.

Among the Best WTF Moments are Angelina’s bullet bending scene in “Wanted,” Ben Stiller licking a decapitated head in “Tropic Thunder” and Jason Segel’s naked break up with Kristen Bell in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”

“Saturday Night Live’s” Andy Samberg will host the 18th annual MTV Movie Awards on May 31, with Eminem already confirmed for a performance. A complete list of presenters and performers has yet to be revealed.

Fans can vote for their favorites in each category until May 31 at the MTV Movies Awards site.
