‘Twilight’ Producers To Adapt Lauren Conrad’s ‘L.A. Candy’ Novel For Big Screen

Lauren Conrad has left the small screen for the big screen. The former “The Hills” starlet’s first novel, “L.A. Candy,” is reportedly headed to theaters.

According to Variety, Temple Hill Entertainment has nabbed the rights to Lauren’s book, which has been on The New York Times bestseller list for an impressive 14 weeks.

“The Twilight Saga” producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey will reportedly produce the movie, which chronicles the life of 19-year-old Jane Roberts who moves to Hollywood and becomes famous after landing on a reality show – which is loosely based on Lauren’s own life.

“Lauren, who became an icon in that reality show world, came to us with a structure of how to tell the story in an interesting fashion, that was separate and apart from the book,” Bowen told the mag. “We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize, wow, this isn’t at all what I’d planned for myself.”

The producers are currently searching for a screenwriter for the project and Lauren will reportedly be involved in helping to shape the script.

Lauren is planning to write two more novels about the adventures of Jane Roberts.
