Unexpected Pair Sent Home On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

“Dancing with the Stars” dismissed another celebrity and their professional partner from the ballroom on Tuesday evening, but it wasn’t the pair many were expecting to exit the dance floor.

Former boxing champ Sugar Ray Leonard and redheaded dancer Anna Trebunskaya – and not Kendra Wilkinson and Louis van Amstel, who actually ended Monday night at the bottom of the leaderboard – were the ones eliminated on Tuesday’s show.

Sugar Ray had been making advances in the ballroom during Season 12, scoring 21 points on Monday with Anna, but it wasn’t enough to make it through another week.

“That’s life and I put up a good fight and I cherish this moment. Great friends, great people, great show,” Sugar Ray told show co-hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke after learning the news.

He added that he enjoyed the competition, even if he didn’t make it to the top.

“I love the spirit of the show, I love the people of the show and what the show means and what the show represents and stands for and you know what? I’ll cherish this moment,” he added.

Before the elimination, it appeared as if last night’s highest point earning couple, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, who scored 26 out of 30 points, were facing the cut. They were placed in the bottom two, however Tom said they didn’t necessarily have one of the lowest scores.

Kendra, in fact, was saved much earlier in the evening, and she apologized for being dismissive of the judges’ remarks on Monday night, especially when Carrie Ann Inaba suggested she needed to amp up her elegance, something Kendra replied with, “I just don’t care about it.”

“The hormones took over yesterday,” Kendra said, by way of an apology on Tuesday. “It’s one of those womanly things that happened yesterday.”

Next week, “Dancing with the Stars” returns on Monday at 8 PM ET on ABC. In honor of Patriot Day, the couples will be dancing to songs about America.
