UPDATE: ‘Glee’ Catches Bieber Fever? Gwyneth Returns To Teach Sex Ed

Hold on to your hats, Gleeks!

Gwyneth Paltrow will return to the hit FOX series to reprise her role as substitute teacher Holly Holliday for not one, but TWO episodes this spring – and she’s going to spice up Mr. Shue’s love life, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“[Gwyneth] is coming back specifically to date Will [Matthew Morrison],” “Glee” co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy told the site in a story first published on Saturday. “Those two have become really good friends in real life and had really good chemistry. She’s coming back as a sex education teacher.”

As if Gwynnie weren’t exciting enough – Ryan also revealed that Lady Gaga has officially given the kids at McKinley High clearance to take on her highly anticipated new single, “Born This Way.”

The song will reportedly be used in a March or April episode, which will focus on closeted gay bully Karofsky (played by Max Adler), according to the site.

“This show is by nature optimistic and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark,” Ryan told the site. “But I also love Max and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending.

“So I don’t really know what that’s going to be, but I do know we’re going to do a whole episode that’s about that song,” he added.

In related “Glee” news, the musical comedy is about to get a taste of Bieber.

Despite a report from TVLine.com’s Michael Aussiello claiming the show is planning an episode for February sweeps featuring the music of Justin Bieber, series creator Ryan Murphy reportedly told PerezHilton.com they are not devoting an entire episode to the Canadian pop star, but will feature one of his songs briefly.

”‘Glee’ is not doing a Justin Bieber tribute episode. We are not doing any more of those this season. Those are reserved for artists with a big catalogue, ala Madonna and Britney, etc.,” Perez claimed that Ryan said. “We are doing an episode where Sam sings a JB song to win Quinn back…and copies his hairstyle, etc. But it’s a small part of a big episode that has a LOT of other things going on.”

Ryan was not immediately available for comment when contacted by Access Hollywood.

According to Aussiello, the episode featuring the Bieber song is reportedly “tentatively scheduled” to air on February 15.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the second half of “Glee’s” second season is shaping up to be monumental, with the return of Kristin Chenoweth and a cameo by “CBS Evening News” anchor Katie Couric.

“[Katie] interviews [Sue Sylveser] – I’ll give a little bit away,” Jane told Access’ Maria Menounos in a December interview. “[Sue] thinks it’s for the 10 Most Fascinating people and [Katie] says, ‘No, that’s Barbara Walters. This is for the year’s biggest loser!’”
While the crotchety Cheerios coach hasn’t yet witnessed Katie’s musical talents, Jane definitely enjoyed working with legendary journalist.

“I haven’t heard [Katie] sing, but I’ll bet even if she can’t sing, she’ll do it with such heart and such commitment,” Jane told Maria.

“She does the best Katie Couric I’ve ever seen, so I’m glad we cast her,” Jane joked.

Katie’s post-Super Bowl “Glee” episode — the show’s first new episode in 2011 — will air on February 6.
