UPDATE: Source: Charlie Sheen Leaving ‘Two And A Half Men’; Actor Asked For $2M Per Episode

A source close to Charlie Sheen told Access Hollywood that the actor does not want to star in “Two and a Half Men” anymore.

Charlie, who will get out of rehab next week, was back on the set of his hit CBS show on Friday at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, Calif.

His popular sitcom has been picked up for two more years by the network, which means that Sheen is potentially walking away from over $50 million – but is this just a negotiating tactic?

“Usually when you have big stars who start dropping hints that they may not be coming back for the new season, that’s usually about them negotiating to get a bigger salary,” Sharon Waxman from TheWrap.com told Access.

The star, already the highest-paid actor on television, was asking for $2 million per episode for the CBS comedy’s eighth season, Access Hollywood has learned. He was making $987,000 an episode, wanted $2 million, but was offered $1.2 million. He said no to the deal.

A rep for Charlie has not responded to a request for comment from Access.

However, in a comment to People, Charlie’s rep confirmed the actor’s contract was “only through this current season.”

On Friday, when Access contacted a rep for Sheen’s co-star, Jon Cryer, he had “no comment” on the matter.

The actor returned to work on the show earlier this month after taking time off for a stint in a rehab facility.

He remains embroiled in legal issues over his December 25, 2009 arrest on domestic violence charges, to which he has since pleaded not guilty.
