UPDATE: Source Says Hasselhoff Hospitalized For Ear Infection, Not Alleged Drinking

After reports surfaced late on Sunday claiming that David Hasselhoff was taken to the hospital Sunday night for alleged excessive drinking, a source close to the actor tells Access Hollywood an ear infection is to blame.

Early Monday, TMZ reported that Hasselhoff’s 17-year-old daughter, Hayley Hasselhoff, became alarmed about her father’s alleged drinking and called her mother, Pamela Bach, claiming that the “America’s Got Talent” judge was extremely drunk. A friend of Pamela’s then reportedly called 911 and paramedics came to Hasselhoff’s home in Encino, Calif., and took the actor to the hospital.

But now, a source close to the 57-year-old actor tells Access Hollywood that Hasslehoff is suffering from an ear infection.

The source told Access that he is taking the antihistamine Antivert and is also taking Antabuse, a drug used to prevent alcohol abuse. The source said the combination of the two medications caused problems with his equilibrium.

The source confirmed that Hasselhoff took himself to the hospital, but for treatment related to his ear infection and not drinking. He was released less than an hour after being treated.

In 2007, the 57-year-old actor made headlines when a video surfaced online which showed the actor in an apparent drunken state attempting to eat a hamburger while laying on the ground.
