U.S. Olympic Figure Skaters On Meeting Russia’s Vladimir Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been a very visible presence during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and as it turns out, he’s made an impression on members of the U.S. Olympic Figure Skating team.

America’s athletes recently met Putin at the Sochi games, and they spoke to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush about meeting Russia’s head of state.

“I got a very strong handshake,” figure skater Gracie Gold told Billy.

But, Meryl Davis got a bit more from Putin – a kiss.

“He did. He did indeed,” Meryl said when Billy asked if she got a peck on the cheek from Russia’s leader.

“I didn’t actually know who it was until after – until he pulled away, and then I was like, ‘Oh, wow,’” she added.

Asked about the President’s cologne by Billy, Meryl noted Putin, “smelled great.”

Putin also shared kind words with Meryl and her pairs figure skating partner, Charlie White.

“He was very complimentary, which is very exciting,” she said.
