Valerie Harper ‘Not In A Coma’; ‘Doing Well’

Valerie Harper is not in a coma, according to the theatre company in Maine, where she was performing prior to her hospitalization this week.

On Friday, a spokesperson for the Ogunquit Playhouse issued a statement to Access Hollywood regarding the reports swirling around the actress’ condition.

“Executive Artistic Director Bradford Kenney has been in direct communication with Valerie’s family from the beginning and can report that Valerie is not, and has never been, in a coma. She is currently enjoying her family’s company while resting at an undisclosed location,” the statement read.

Harper had been performing in the Ogunquit production of “Nice Work If You Can Get It” as Millicent Winter, along with Sally Struthers as Duchess Estonia Dulworth. The theatre spokesperson noted Harper was “looking forward to getting back on stage” as well.

On Friday, NECN’s Danielle Waugh in Maine said Harper’s husband and manager, Tony Cacciotti, had told the theatre company that the actress was “doing well.”

Waugh also had additional information on the actress’ condition leading up to her hospitalization.

The Ogunquit Playhouse says #ValerieHarper had been feeling “off” all week and was feeling faint but NEVER collapsed or was in a coma.

The Ogunquit Playhouse says #ValerieHarper wants to return to the stage and she may make it back before the show ends on Aug. 15th.

Harper was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in 2013. At the time, she was given three to six months to live.
