Vanessa Paradis Speaks Out After Split From Johnny Depp: ‘I Want To Be Right Where I Am Right Now’

Vanessa Paradis is opening up about her recent split from Johnny Depp – her partner of 14 years.

In her first interview since the pair announced they were parting ways in June, the actress spoke of love and relationships, and seemed to hint about her feelings following her breakup with the 49-year-old star.

“I don’t have the recipe for happiness, but I think the engine is simply having the desire,” Vanessa, 39, told French Elle, as excerpted by People. “It’s not feeling obliged or forced or repeating yourself.

“I hate, for example, whenever you hear someone say, ‘You have work at being a couple,’” she continued. “No, you have to want to be there. And for me, I want to be right where I am right now.”

The actress, who is promoting her new film, “Cornouaille” (Cornwall), was initially hesitant to speak of her prior relationship with Johnny – the father of her two children, Lily-Rose, 14, and 10-year-old Jack.

“I don’t want to talk about him,” she told the mag. “Who said that artists should sell their soul, expose everything about themselves? … It’s my duty to promote this movie, and my albums, but can you imagine what it feels like to see people making a business out of your pain.”

Adding, “What’s happened to us is our concern.”

Despite her unwillingness to discuss her longtime love, the former couple appears to be on good terms.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Vanessa and Johnny were spotted together at their mansion in France last month, along with their two children.
