VMAs: Taylor Swift Joins Nicki Minaj On Stage For Opening Number

Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj have officially put their “Bad Blood” to rest.

The pop sensation appeared on stage for the rapper’s opening number at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, squashing their earlier Twitter misunderstanding once and for all.

The superstars teamed up for a duet of Nicki’s jam “The Night Is Still Young” before wrapping with Taylor’s smash hit “Bad Blood.” The ladies appropriately donned flashy red costumes for the occasion and gave each other playful glares during the performance.

The reunion comes just days after Nicki announced she would kick off the show, but Taylor’s appearance was kept under wraps. The singer has made a habit of bringing out guest stars during each of her sold-out “1989” tour stops, and returned the gesture in grand fashion to show that she and the hip-hop queen really had buried the hatchet.

Their conflict arose in July when Nicki protested the exclusion of her video for “Anaconda” from the VMA Video of the Year nominees, Tweeting that if a clip shows off “very slim bodies” it had a greater chance of recognition. Many interpreted that as a reference to Taylor’s supermodel-filled “Bad Blood” video, including Taylor herself.

After a confusing back-and-forth that included other stars like Katy Perry, Tay later apologized for having “misunderstood” Nicki’s complaint.

The rapper got a bonus reason to put the past behind her during Sunday’s show. Nicki took home the Best Hip-Hop video Moonman for “Anaconda.”
