‘Walking Dead’ Boss Reveals Daryl Dixon’s Sexuality

If your gaydar was going off for “The Walking Dead’s” Daryl Dixon, you may need to recalibrate.

After months of speculation regarding the crossbow-wielding hunk’s sexuality, “Walking Dead” comic book creator Robert Kirkman has revealed whether Daryl likes the ladies or the gents.

“We play Daryl Dixon as being somewhat asexual on the show. He’s a very introverted character and I think that’s some of his appeal,” Robert said on “Talking Dead,” following Sunday’s midseason finale. “I do have to clear something up, though: in the letter column of the comic book that I do, I mentioned that there was a possibility early on about making Daryl Dixon’s character gay.”

That revelation sent the Internet into a tailspin, but alas, it’s a no-go.

“It caused quite a hubbub online and I just wanted to clarify that the possibility is there and that I would have been fine with it, the network would have been fine with it, but we ultimately didn’t do that,” he said. “I can make it official: Daryl Dixon is straight.”

While Daryl is straight as an arrow (see what we did there?), a gay character will soon arrive on the AMC show.

Robert revealed that a “very prominent gay character from the comics” will be introduced during the second half of Season 5. “The Walking Dead” returns February 8, 2015 on AMC.
