Whoopi Leads ‘View’ Higher Than Rosie Ever Did

After a rough first week, new co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd are leading ABC daytime talker “The View” higher than last year’s controversial co-host, Rosie O’Donnell, was ever able to, according to Variety.

On her first day (before Shepherd joined), Whoopi helped “The View” to 3.4 million viewers, 1 million fewer than Rosie’s premiere. But after one week, Whoopi had nearly earned that million back.

After the show’s new season’ssecond week, “The View” was up 16% overallover last year, and is now averaging 3.5 million viewers (up from a 3.3 million average under Rosie).

When Shepherd joined on September 10th, the show had added 4% in total viewers, Variety also reports, and the cast had a full roster of 5 co-hosts for the first time in well over a year.
