Will Christina Applegate Reprise Her Newscaster Role For Anchorman 2?

The boys of San Diego’s KVWN-TV 4 news team are headed back to the big screen for “Anchorman 2,” but will Christina Applegate be returning to make sure Ron Burgundy and crew stay classy?

“I hope to, I hope to,” Christina told Access Hollywood at the 2012 Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles on Tuesday, when asked if she will reprise her role as feisty newswoman Veronica Corningstone in the highly anticipated sequel.

Though the “Up All Night” star’s return has yet to be set in stone, Christina said she’s been approached about re-teaming with Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd and company.

“I know they’re writing the script right now, I know that we’ve talked about, they’ve talked about [me coming] back,” she told Access. “So, I’m definitely hoping that it happens!”

As for “Anchorman’s” producer Judd Apatow, Christina said she’d love to work with him again.

“[Judd] is fantastic,” she said. “Look at what he’s done since ‘Anchorman’! Oh my God, are you kidding me?”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Will Ferrell revealed an “Anchorman” sequel is on the way during an appearance on “Conan” back in March.

Playing a flute and dressed in his classic cardinal “Anchorman” jacket, Will walked on stage to loud cheers from the studio audience, before revealing the news.

“I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to my friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK, including England, that as of 0900 Mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel to ‘Anchor Man,’” he said at the time.

“It is official,” he added. “There will be a sequel to ‘Anchorman.’ There will be a sequel!”
