‘Will & Grace’ Vet Sean Hayes Plotting NBC Return, Talks ‘Stooges’ Film: ‘I Never Laughed So Hard In My Life’

Sean Hayes spent eight seasons as Jack on “Will & Grace,” and the actor is planning to head back to NBC in front of the camera, he confirmed on Monday.

“[There’s] nothing I can discuss at the moment, but we had a conversation and it looks like its heading in that direction and I’m gonna be doing something on the network,” a tight-lipped Sean told reporters following the Television Critics Association Summer Session 2011 panel for “Grimm,” the NBC fall drama he is producing for the network.

While details were slim, Sean confirmed his return would be in a comedy, but declined to say more.

The actor, who turned up to the TCAs with a shaved head, the result of filming “The Three Stooges,” did open up about his upcoming film, where he stars as Larry, alongside Will Sasso as Curly and Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe.

“We just wrapped two weeks ago,” Sean said. “I never laughed so hard in my life and I saw some early clips and it looks fantastic.”

The actor said the film takes The Stooges’ original comedy style and puts that template in a modern setting.

“It’s a contemporary restructuring of the classic shorts, so yes we are trying our best to emulate the spirit of those three guys while conducting a contemporary story,” he said.

“It was an incredible privilege and working with the Farelly Brothers, who also shared the kind of love of where a lot of people say comedy began, because nobody’s ever seen anything like that — that forceful, physical comedy,” Sean added. “So I live for that kind of stuff. I love that.”

The film co-stars Jane Lynch, Sofia Vergara and features cameos by “Jersey Shore” stars Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley.

There were some, “great guest stars, co-stars in the movie,” Sean said of the cast and cameo stars. “We were lucky, very, very lucky to have so many people interested in wanting to explore The Stooges again with us.”

Sean’s other project, “Grimm,” will air Friday nights at 9 PM this fall on NBC.
