Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith Donate Their Birthdays To Fund Clean Water Wells In Africa

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are joining forces with charity:water to help make an impact on the global water crisis.

The talented twosome, who share September birthdays, are celebrating their special days by asking friends and fans to make donations that will fund the digging of clean water wells in developing African communities.

“We view contribution and service as a celebration of one’s gifts,” the couple said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Thursday. “We celebrate the grace that has been bestowed upon us as we honor our gifts though sharing them. There are men, women and children who, right now, do not have clean water to drink – we celebrate the fact that we are able to help quench their thirst.”

A contribution of merely $20 will provide clean water for one person in a developing nation for 20 years, according to the non-profit organization.

And there’s more – the top three fundraisers will get to see the fruits of their labor firsthand as they join Will and Jada on a trip to Africa next year.
