William Shatner Feels ‘Awful’ He’s Unable To Attend Leonard Nimoy’s Funeral

William Shatner sent out a series of Tweets on Saturday expressing his grief over the loss of one his “dearest friends,” Leonard Nimoy.

Sadly, due to a prior commitment that poses a scheduling conflict, Shatner is unable to attend Nimoy’s funeral on Sunday.

“I am currently in FL as I agreed to appear at the Red Cross Ball tonight. Leonard’s funeral is tomorrow. I can’t make it back in time,” he explained, adding in another Tweet, “I feel really awful. Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried.”

Shatner, who starred as Captain James T. Kirk on “Star Trek,” asked that fans keep his former co-star in their thoughts as he is laid to rest.

“So maybe tomorrow we come together here and celebrate his life,” the actor Tweeted and continued, “So let’s spend some time tomorrow celebrating Leonard’s life and remembering the man.”

He also took time to thank everyone who has paid tribute to the late star.

“I am so humbled by the worldwide outpouring of love that has been displayed; words cannot express my feelings,” he wrote in one Tweet and further expressed gratitude in another that read, “There are so many people who I need to say thank you to.”

Shatner ended his series of Tweets with one final note, “Until tomorrow! #LLAP.” #LLAP stands for Nimoy’s famous “Star Trek” line, “Live long and prosper.”

On Friday, the day Nimoy passed, Shatner Tweeted, “I loved him like a brother. We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love.”
