Workout With Jen Aniston’s Yoga Instructor

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 27, 2006) — If you’ve ever wondered how Hollywood celebs have those incredible bodies, or how do they manage to stay in shape during the holidays…wonder no more. Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos went straight to the source!

She caught up with Jennifer Aniston’s Yoga instructor, Mandy Ingber,

and both stretched out their mats by the pool at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica.

In this month’s issue, Aniston revealed to Self Magazine that after her break-up with Brad Pitt she wanted to get both her body and mind in shape so she turned to her long-time friend and Yoga instructor to help her heal. (Click here to check out Self Magazine).

Here’s the Yoga routine, and remember to hold each pose for 5 to 10 breaths:

The Butterfly Pose

Sit on the ground with feet flat, knees bent, chest lifted. Bring soles of feet together, letting knees drop to the sides.

Mandy: “Maria, sink a little lower into your toosh…good.”

Maria: “Wait, that’s two?”

Mandy: “That was one.Seven more to go baby…”

The Tree Pose

Maria: “Ok so what’s Jennifer’s favorite pose?”

Mandy: “This is easy, she loves the tree pose.”

Balance your weight on one foot and then draw the other foot into the inner thigh.

The Crescent Pose

This pose is also known as the lunge.

Stand with feet hip-width apart and step forward with one foot, about 4 or 5 feet. Square hips, extend arms overhead, palms in.

Sink down until the front knee forms a 90 degree angle.

Make sure to reach up, up, up.

Switch legs.

One Arm Balance

Start in push-up position, palms under shoulders, heels pressing back. Keeping one hand planted, stack feet and pivot toopen chest, extending opposite arm up as shown.

Cat/Dog Stretch

Hands and knees on the floor (on all fours). Inhale, lifting chin to ceiling, arching back. Exhale, dropping chin to chest, tilting pelvis under, rounding back like a cat.

The Boat Pose

Sit with knees bent, feet flat on the ground. Lean back about 45 degrees, chest lifted, and extend arms at chest level, palms up, as you straighten legs. Hold.

As a variation, hands can be placed by the sides, knees can also be bent.

Mandy: “This is a good pose to do in front of the TV when you’re watching Access.”

And voila! The Yoga workout, Hollywood style. And don’t forget…no pain, no gain!
