According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC and NBC Universal International are working on a reboot of the beloved “Xena: Warrior Princess” series with original executive producers Rob Tapert (who is married to Lucy) and Sam Raimi reportedly involved.

The new “Xena” is being billed as “modern reboot” of the series, which was a “Hercules” spin-off that went on to become a cult hit.

It is unknown if Lucy would be involved in the project, but a THR source claimed that the actress is wanted for a role both onscreen and off in the project.

However, the actress painted a different story on Twitter.

“Sorry, friends! news of a #Xena reboot is just a rumor. I’d love it to happen one day but it’s still in the wishful thinking stage,” the actress wrote.

THR reported that the new version of Xena would be a cross between the original character and Katniss Everdeen from “The Hunger Games,” dubbing Xena 2.0 as “a sophisticated and smart superhero for a new generation.”

The original series ran from 1995 to 2001.

Access has reached out to NBC for comment on the reported “Xena” reboot.
