Austin Mahone is shedding his swag for a geeky guest spot on CBS comedy “The Millers.”
The teen music star will portray a younger version of Nelson Franklin’s character, Adam, in an upcoming episode of the series, and Austin shared details of his cameo with AccessHollywood.com on Thursday night.
“Younger Adam is really nerdy. He lives in a school bus so he’s kind of like the kid in school that doesn’t get a lot girls,” Austin told AccessHollywood.com following a “The Millers” table read during the Television Critics Association Winter Tour 2014.
Austin said he was recently approached for the guest spot on the comedy, which stars Will Arnett, Margo Martindale, Beau Bridges and Jayma Mays.
“They were just like, ‘We want you to play a younger version of Adam on the show,’ and I always like to do a little bit of acting when I’m in LA so I thought it was pretty cool,” he said.
Due to his busy music schedule, the young star admitted he hadn’t been watching the show when the cameo came up.
“No. I don’t really watch a lot of TV ‘cause I’m always working on music and stuff, but I mean, I watched a couple clips and I thought it was hilarious,” Austin said.
But he was familiar with some of the cast’s other work.
“Will Arnett I’ve seen a lot of. I haven’t seen too many people. J.B. Smoove is good too,” he added.
Austin’s character, young Adam, will appear in a tape that older Adam and his wife, Debbie (Jayma’s character), end up watching. Now that Austin is the face of that character in his early years, the music star said he would be open to returning.
“I’d love to come back,” he said.
