LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- New “Bachelor” Sean Lowe knows the chances are not in his favor when it comes to finding love (only 3 of 24 “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” romances have survived!), but he’s determined to beat the odds.
“The track record might not be the greatest, but I know that it can work and I know that it worked for me the first go around,” Sean, who made it to the final three before being rejected by Emily Maynard on the most recent season of “The Bachelorette,” told Access Hollywood in an exclusive new interview on the set of a photo shoot for the ABC reality series.
“I went into ‘The Bachelorette’ thinking, ‘There’s no way I’m ever going to develop real feelings and actually fall in love on a TV show.’ And low and behold, I did!” he continued.
Obviously, it didn’t work out the way Sean was hoping.
“I was absolutely heartbroken and I didn’t see it coming,” he told Access of getting the “Bachelorette” boot. “So it was shocking, and then I dealt with heartbreak and I think it was good. It was healthy for me.”
Adding, “I think I’m over Emily and now I see that she’s not the one for me.”
Thanks to his experience with Emily, Sean said he now knows the type of woman he’s looking for.
“I would say primarily she just has to have a genuine, sweet, caring, heart and then outside of that she needs to be intelligent,” he said. “And funny is always a plus.”
The latest “Bachelor,” which premieres Monday at 8 on ABC, will certainly have its surprises, and the big question is: will Sean’s lesson in tough love make him a “Bachelor” to beware?
“It’s not going to be easy — nobody wants to break some else’s heart,” he told Access, of sending hopeful ladies home. “I just have to remind myself that if I’m in this for the right reasons, I might have to break a couple hearts to hopefully find the one that’s for me.”
