'Bachelor's' Mesnick & Malaney Wed In The Rain Saturday
The most controversial couple from the recent history of ABC’s “The Bachelor” finally married on Saturday, and they did so in the pouring rain, ABC sources confirm to Access Hollywood.
Jason Mesnick, who famously ditched runner-up Melissa Rycroft (who was not present at the wedding) in the show’s reunion finale, married his true love, Molly Malaney, in a rain-drenched ceremony in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
Their wedding was taped by ABC and will be broadcast in primetime on March 8.
According to Us Weekly, which was the first outlet to publish details of the nuptials attended by a crowd of 250 invited guests, “The ceremony took place on a lawn overlooking the ocean; the couple exchanged vows beneath an altar made of tree branches, white lillies and orchids. Wearing a strapless Monique Lhuillier gown and Neil Lane jewels, holding an all-white bouquet, Malaney walked down the aisle as ‘American Idol’ alum Jason Castro performed ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow.’ White doves were released in the middle of the ceremony.”
The show does not have a good history of creating lasting couples. In fact, the only couple to stay successfully married as a result of the show, Ryan and Trista Sutter, was indeed themselves at the wedding on Saturday.
This coming Monday, March 1, is a big day for “Bachelor” fans, who will find out whether current single man Jake Pavelka will pick Vienna Girardi or Tenley Molzahn.
The same night, reality fans will find out who will be the franchise’s next “Bachelorette,” and the cast of the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars” will be revealed.
