Balthazar Getty has opened up for the first time about reuniting with his wife, Rosetta, following his controversial romance with Sienna Miller two years ago.
The actor and Getty heir opened up in Harper’s Bazaar’s October 2010 issue, and explained how he was able to reunite with his wife after the scandal.
“Here’s the bottom line: It was a very challenging time for everybody involved,” he told the mag. “But I loved and missed my family too much not to make it work.”
The actor, who has starred on ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” said it was his wife’s openness that allowed them to reconnect after they split.
“Rosetta is understanding enough and spiritual enough to let us try. In a way it — I don’t know… I feel like we’re better than we’ve ever been,” he said.
Rosetta, who is also featured in the article on the actor, as well as in a pictorial spread inside their home with their children, said she hopes that the couple talking about reuniting can help others.
“I’m open to talking about it because I believe we go through things in a public way to help other people get through it. I’d love to talk about it more with people when I’m clearer about it,” she said. “I’m going to have to explain this to my daughters one day. I chose not to act from ego because I just felt like it would be too crushing for my children.”
Balthazar said addressing things is part of a course he feels strongly about taking.
“You can do two things in life when an obstacle comes your way: You can tackle it, or you can allow it to break you down,” he said.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Balthazar and Sienna created a media firestorm when they were spotted kissing in July 2008. Not long after, the actor issued a statement announcing he and Rosetta had split.
“The breakdown of a marriage is a very difficult and painful experience especially when children are involved,” he said in the statement released to Access Hollywood at the time. “In light of the fact that many pictures have surfaced in print and on the Internet which has caused myself and my family great embarrassment, I felt it necessary to at least acknowledge publicly that yes indeed my wife and I have separated and I will not be commenting any further.”
Sienna is now once again dating fellow British actor Jude Law, who turned up as she launched her latest Twenty8Twelve collection with sister Savannah at London Fashion Week, this past Saturday.
