In the game of superhero chicken, it appears Captain America has come out on top!
Fans were sent into a frenzy about at the possibility of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Captain America 3" opening on the same weekend – May 6, 2016 – but the Caped Crusader and the Man of Steel have caved to the power of the First Avenger, Warner Bros. announced on Wednesday.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" – with Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred – will now hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
The studio also announced plans for a slew of major DC Comic-based films, with two titles coming to theaters per year.
The charters and titles of the films have yet to be revealed, but the studio staked out their dates as August 5, 2016; June 23, 2017; November 17, 2017; March 23, 2018; July 27, 2018; April 5, 2019; June 14, 2019; April 3, 2020, and June 19, 2020.
Warner Bros. is also planning two "event" films on November 16, 2018 and November 20, 2020.
