LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Ben Affleck spent his weekend lending a hand to “Operation Gratitude,” an organization that assembles care packages to send to military service men and women deployed overseas – and Ben’s not only helping out our troops – the actor is set to screen a film he directed about refugees in the Congo at the United Nations.

Access Hollywood caught up with Ben on Saturday while he helped fill boxes and packages for the troops. The actor-turned-director shared with Access the details about his film, set to screen this week.

“I made a film for the U.N.,” Ben told Access. “It’s an issue that I care a lot about which is what’s going on in the Congo. So, I made this film for the U.N.H.C.R., which is the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees.”

“I really am passionate about the humanitarian situation in the Congo, so I made a film about refugees – kind of centered around what’s happening in the Congo,” Ben continued. “I’m screening it at the U.N. on the 17th of December, as the opening to a discussion that they’re doing there about refugees.”

And Ben had a little help from one of rock’s biggest groups.

“The film is set to the Rolling Stones song, “Give Me Shelter,” which was donated by the Rolling Stones,” Ben explained. “It’s another step of being active in the humanitarian space and I’ve been really honored that the U.N. has asked me to make this film and is allowing me to participate in their discussion about refugees which will follow the screening of the film.”

And when it comes to his own family this holiday season, Ben only has one wish for expecting wife Jenifer Garner and their daughter Violet.

“The health of my family is probably what I want for Christmas,” Ben added.
