LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Billy Ray Cyrus seems to be in a perpetually good mood, but the country crooner admits he wakes up in a slump at times.
When the 50-year-old dad is feeling blue, his children are the cure.
“Seeing my kids,” Billy Ray told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover when asked what lifts his spirits on Friday’s Access Hollywood Live. “Taking my little girl to school, watching her ride a horse.”
The singer/actor — whose latest single, “I’m American,” is in stores now — also sported a shorter ‘do, but revealed the cropped look is for an upcoming movie role.
“I’m working on a new character for a film I’m looking at,” Billy Ray said, when asked by Kit why he had toned down the famous “party in the back.” “I’m just trying to develop this guy a little bit.”
As for how he keeps his body in tip-top shape, Billy Ray confessed he still indulges in good old Southern favorites.
“I like chicken and dumplings,” he said. “I’ve never put any limits on it. I may need to!”
