Bindi Irwin Heads Back To TV

LOS ANGELES (March 27, 2007) — Bindi Irwin, the plucky daughter of animal lover Steve, launches her own series covering wildllife this June.The Discovery Kids Channel will start screening weekly series, ?Bindi: The Jungle Girl,” beginning June 9. From koala bears to snakes, the series will find the 8-year-old teaching viewers about why it is important to respect and protect wildlife.Bindi began filming the series with her father, who died after a stingray barb pierced his heart on a documentary trip in 2006. Bindi was not on the trip. Despite the tragedy, the peppy girl, her mother Terri and their friends and associates at the Australia Zoo chose to continue making the series, to ?carry on Steve?s legacy,? the Discovery channel said.One difference between Bindi and her late father?s show — she has her own song and dance troupe known as The Crocmen, who will ?pop in with exciting ?Croc Facts? and fun animal-themed song and dance routines,? Discovery Kids said.Bindi will also host ?My Daddy The Croc Hunter,? a special that looks at her life with Steve Irwin. That special screens on June 8.
