Bindi Irwin's Touching Message To Dad Steve Irwin

Bindi Irwin has carried on her dad, Steve Irwin’s, legacy as a wildlife expert and conservationist. Now, a 16-year-old Bindi graces the cover of the new People magazine. In it, she pens a special message to her dad, who she lost in 2006 when she was just eight.

I feel that he's with me, and I feel that I want to make him proud. I want to make him the proudest dad. How cute is that? Cindy Irwin has carried on her dad Steve's legacy as a wildlife expert and conservationist. For that, he would be very proud. She turns 16 tomorrow. And today graces the cover of the new "People" magazine. In it she pens a special message to her dad in 2006 when she was only 8. "Thank you for an amazing eight years and the adventures of a lifetime." Those are thes bindi would speak to her dad if she could speak to him. I got to be with my dad. Always wise beyond her year, bindi has never wavered from the path blazed by her dad that was created when Tim Vincent met bindi, her mother terry and her brother bob at the museum of natural history. This is something you've always been passionate about, is this something you'll be doing in ten years time? Yes, I'm going to be doing exactly what I do now. Teaching people about animals. With Steve's death, her passion became a mission. She tells people you can take the path that leads you down the aisle of sadness or you can say I'm never going to let this person's memory die. I'll make sure everything they work for continues. Bindi, her brother Robert, who was 2 when Steve died, and her mother terry are all carrying out that mission. I saw some of that determination when she sat down with me here at "Access Hollywood" four years ago. I don't want to see animals used as bags and pelts. When the buying stops, the killing stops. There remains grief for those who tell her time heals all wounds, she explains to people, quote, that is the biggest lie you will ever hear. It doesn't. That part of you is gone poefr. Forever. I'm happy but that kind of sadness never goes away. Like losing a piece of your heart that you never get back. And just last week, at a 50th birthday message to her mom bindi called her, quote, the most beautiful mother on Earth. I know that dad is so proud of you and so are we. Can't beat that.
