NEW YORK, New York --
What’s the key to surviving New York Fashion Week?
Actress Blake Lively, caught in the chaotic, bustling scene at Michael Kors’ runway show, offered her strategy: “Having people around you that know how to elbow people!”
Another piece of advice: “Just smile.”
The “Gossip Girl” star’s entourage included her publicist and sister. They were immediately swarmed by video cameras and photographers at the Wednesday presentation for Kors’ spring collection in the Bryant Park tents.
“I’m a huge huge fan of Michael, so we had to make sure I had the morning off (from filming `Gossip Girl’) so I that I could be here at this show,” said Lively, looking statuesque in a white-and-black patterned sheath and black heels.
Lively, whose resume includes “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” movies, portrays rich girl Serena van der Woodsen in the CW teen drama, which shoots on location in New York. She celebrated her 21st birthday this past weekend in the city.
“I had a wonderful birthday,” she said. “I had lots of friends and family come in to celebrate with me. … Just getting to be around everyone was really incredible — everyone I don’t normally get to see working so much here in New York.”
Also spotted in the front row at Michael Kors: Heidi Klum, Joy Bryant and Bette Midler with lookalike daughter Sophie.
