Brad Pitt On Turning 50 & The Importance Of 12 Years A Slave

Brad Pitt joins Michael Fassbender, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Cumberbatch in a film that is already critically acclaimed — “12 Years A Slave” — and he opened up about the project to Ann Curry for a new “Today” show interview.

“It’s one of those few films that cuts to the base of our humanity,” Brad told Ann about the film, based on the true story of Solomon Northup, a free black man who was sold into slavery.

Brad told Ann he “absolutely” plans to show his children the film, but not right now.

“Maybe my eldest I would [show it to] right now,” he said. “I’d rather for the others to get a little bit older and understand the dynamics of the world a little more.”

In the interview, set to air on Wednesday on “Today,” Ann asked Brad about turning 50, a milestone he will hit in December.

“So far I haven’t minded a bit,” he said of aging. “So I have no complaints.”

Asked if he is “cool” with it, Brad said he hasn’t put much thought into turning 50 just yet.

“Cool? … I don’t know. We’ll see … I’m busy right now so I haven’t thought about it,” he laughed.
