LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Kellan Lutz has lined up a new role – as Hercules.
Renny Harlin will direct Kellan in the project – “Hercules 3D” — for Millennium Films.

“Kellan has the look and charisma that Harlin envisioned for the character,” Head of Creative Affairs Boaz Davidson, said in a statement. “Renny had him in mind from the start, and we are really excited to have him on board.”
Production on the film kicks off next month in Bulgaria.
According to the studio, at the center of the film is a “passionate love story between Lutz and the Princess of Crete, who was promised to his older brother despite her undying love for Hercules.”
Previously, Kellan played Hercules’ uncle – Poseidon – in the 2011 film, “Immortals.”
“The Twilight Saga” star isn’t the only actor inhabiting the role of Zeus’ son, Hercules. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is playing the part in “Hercules: The Thracian Wars,” under director Brett Ratner. That film is slated for release on July 25, 2014.
