LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

A panel of judges have denied a motion by Britney Spears’ lawyer to postpone her trial on a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Spears lawyer, Michael Flanagan, filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court last month, to postpone an impending trial on the charge. He also requested an appellate judge order the judge overseeing the case, to dismiss the charge.

Judges Debre Weintraub, Patti Jo McKay and Fumiko H. Wasserman, of LA Superior Court, denied the motions in a one-page ruling released on Tuesday by the courts.

The case, which has a tentative trial start date of October 15, stems from an August 2007 incident in which Spears was videotaped as she bumped another vehicle while parking her Mercedes-Benz. She left — without leaving a note — after looking over the damage to her car from the fender-bender.

The owner of the other vehicle later filed a police report and Spears was charged a month later with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license.

The hit-and-run charges were dismissed in October 2007 after Spears paid an undisclosed sum to the owner.

Flanagan has said that Spears was driving with a Louisiana license that was valid because she owns homes in that state.

Following the incident, Spears passed the required test to obtain a California driver’s license.
