NEW YORK, N.Y.
The story of “Gossip Girl’s” Lily and Rufus’ journey from LA’s Sunset Strip in the ‘80s to NYC’s present day Upper East Side will continue to remain a mystery as The CW has nixed plans for a spin-off of the popular teen drama.
On Thursday, The CW announced their 2009-2010 season and the network confirmed the news which had been circulating for awhile when they left the planned spin-off, starring Brittany Snow as a young Lily Rhodes, off the schedule.

The “Gossip Girl” spin-off hasn’t even been given a green light yet, but already executive producer Josh Schwartz is eyeing the idea of having the series’ main character, Lily Rhodes, cross paths with some locals from a previous Schwartz-produced series — “The OC.”

The first photos have emerged from the new “Gossip Girl” spin-off, and it appears the prequel to the juicy CW hit series will be just as fabulous as its east coast counterpart.
Sporting a pink and green Argyle sweater, blazer and riding boots, Brittany Snow – who plays a young Lily Rhodes (mother of “Gossip’s” Serena van der Woodsen) – filmed a scene for the new series on Tuesday near the Neptune Restaurant in Malibu.
