Camille Grammer, soon-to-be-ex-wife of former “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer, has shared new details about the sudden demise of her 14-year relationship to the sitcom star, and the phone call that she said left her “blindsided.”

The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” subject said she was initially alerted to the fact that something may be amiss in her marriage in June, after she received a disturbing call from the couple’s mutual friend, who was “upset” after witnessing Kelsey’s “behavior” in New York City (where Kelsey had been living since February for his role on Broadway in “La Cage aux Folles”).

“I asked [our friend], ‘Is [Kelsey] leaving me?’ And she said, ‘Yes,’” Camille told People, in an interview for the magazine’s November 8 issue. “I called him but couldn’t get through, so I texted him and asked him to please call me. Nothing.

“An hour later, I texted him again and he wrote: ‘I don’t want to talk.’ I wrote, ‘We’ve been together for 14 years; I deserve an explanation.’ Finally, three hours later, he called me [and] basically said, ‘I don’t want to be married anymore.’ … I started crying and he said, ‘Oh, grow up.’”

The trouble was just beginning for the 42-year-old, who would soon be hit with another shock: Kelsey had a new girlfriend, 29-year-old Virgin Atlantic flight attendant Kayte Walsh. Additionally, the two were expecting a baby.

“I found out through the same mutual friend,” Camille told the mag, of Kayte’s pregnancy. “I called [Kelsey] and asked, ‘Is this true? We have two children together. Please let me know so I can prepare them.’ And he said, ‘No, I swear she’s not pregnant.’ I believed him.”

Two days later, while Camille was on a press photo shoot for her Bravo reality show, it was confirmed (and publicized) that Kayte was indeed pregnant.

“I was in hair and makeup when I got the call. The makeup artist was putting on extra cream under my eyes because tears were rolling down my chin,” she told the mag. “That night, I tried calling him but he wouldn’t return my calls.”

Though Camille was initially “scared” about a future without Kelsey, she is finding joy in “rediscovering” herself and “becoming independent again,” though she knows her family “will never be the same.”

“Kelsey’s made some very selfish choices that broke up our home,” she told the mag. “He didn’t destroy us, but he broke up our family.”

Despite their painful split, Camille remains hopeful about co-parenting their two children and wants Kelsey to find happiness.

“I’m so blessed to have these children in my life, and I thank Kelsey for that,” Camille told the mag, of the couple’s daughter Mason, 9, and son Jude, 6. “I want him to be happy… At some point, when the hurt goes away, I hope we can be friends again.”
