Casting Call: Drew Barrymore Gets 'Into' Her New Friends
Renee Zellweger heads to the Wild West. Drew Barrymore is “Just Not Into” her new friends. Plus, Tim Allen and Elisha Cuthbert say “I do” to their “Wives.” It’s all in today’s Access Hollywood Casting Call?
Jennifer Connelly, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, Ginnifer Goodwin and “Entourage” star Kevin Connolly are all in talks to join Drew Barrymore in “He’s Just Not That Into You,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
Barrymore will produce and star in the romantic comedy based on the best-selling book about modern-day relationships.
The interconnecting story lines focus on the challenges of reading (or often misreading) human behavior.
Connelly (“Blood Diamond”) plays a woman stuck in a tired marriage with Cooper’s (“Wedding Crashers”) character.
Kevin Connolly is a man pining after a woman (a role yet to be filled) who is having an affair with Cooper.
Goodwin (“Big Love”) is a young woman obsessed with Connolly’s character who tries to set up accidental meetings with him only to run across his friend, played by Long (“Live Free or Die Hard”), who takes her on as a “My Fair Lady” experiment.
Meanwhile, Barrymore plays a woman perpetually confused by dating, now more than ever in a culture that is more obsessed with technology than actual human contact.
Filming is slated to being in September in Los Angeles.
Renee Zellweger has signed on to join Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen in the Western drama “Appaloosa,” per Variety.
Adapted from Robert B. Parker’s novel, “Appaloosa” follows a pair of friends hired to protect a lawless town from a renegade rancher. However, the arrival of an attractive widow disrupts their plans.
Harris will also produce and direct the film.
Zellweger will next be seen in the romantic comedy “Leatherheads” alongside George Clooney and John Krasinski. She is also voicing a lead role in the animated feature “Bee Movie,” starring Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock.
Tim Allen will star in “The Six Wives of Henry Lefay,” an indie comedy which also stars Elisha Cuthbert, Andie MacDowell, Paz Vega and S. Epatha Merkerson, per Variety.
The indie comedy followsLefay, a flashy salesman (Allen) who is presumed dead after he goes missing during a skydiving expedition.
When his daughter (Cuthbert) returns home to arrange his funeral, she discovers that his current wife and her five predecessors are fighting over who gets to bury him.
Allen was last seen on the big screen in “Wild Hogs,” alongside John Travolta, William H. Macy and Martin Lawrence.
