Casting Call: Joaquin Phoenix's Acting Return; Joseph Gordon-Levitt Joins 'The Dark Knight Rises'
From faux rap career to Honest Abe?
Former “I’m Still Here” star Joaquin Phoenix is reportedly the front-runner to play mentor to a twist on late American Preisdent Abraham Lincoln in the Timur Bekmambetov-directed film “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” according to Deadline.
Joaquin is reportedly up for the role of Henry, a “mythic, ageless figure” who instructs the mild-mannered 16th President in the ways of axe-throwing, according to the site.
“Inception” star Joseph Gordon-Levitt is reportedly in talks for another team up with “Inception” director Christopher Nolan for “The Dark Knight Rises,” the site reported on Tuesday.
No word on what role Joseph would fulfill, although the famed director recently revealed that Anne Hathaway has joined the cast as Selina Kyle (who eventually becomes Catwoman), with Joseph’s “Inception” co-star Tom Hardy singed on to play Bane.
According to Variety, Alyssa Milano has signed on for Garry Marshall’s “New Year’s Eve” – a follow-up to last year’s romantic comedy, “Valentine’s Day.”
Alyssa star will reportedly play a nurse who cares for an elderly patient and has no one to ring in the New Year with. She joins the large cast roster along with Jessica Biel, Katherine Heigl, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Robert de Niro, Josh Duhamel, Sarah Jessica Parker and more.
The actress can next be seen in the Farrelly Brothers comedy, “Hall Pass,” alongside Owen Wilson and “Saturday Night Live” star Jason Sudeikis.
