-- Penelope Cruz becomes an animated “Force” to be reckoned with. Ashley Tisdale gets some company “Upstairs.” Plus, Josh Brolin ready for the Oval Office? It’s all in the latest edition of the Access Hollywood Casting Call!
Josh Brolin will play the president in the Oliver Stone-directed film “Bush,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Stone, who also helmed films about John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, is hoping to start production as early as the spring, in order to release the film around the fall presidential election.
Brolin currently stars in the Coen brothers’ critically acclaimed drama “No Country For Old Men.”
Penelope Cruz has signed on to lend her voice to “G-Force,” a new film from Disney that combines live action and computer generated animation, reports Variety.
Cruz joins a cast that already includes the voices of Nicolas Cage, Steve Buscemi and Tracy Morgan. Meanwhile, Bill Nighy and “SNL” alum Will Arnett are part of the actual human cast.
“G-Force” follows a group of super-smart animal commandoes who work for a government agency trying to prevent an evil tycoon from taking over the world.
Cruz will voice a guinea pig named Juarez. She will next be seen on the big screen in “Elegy,” a drama alongside Ben Kinglsey, Peter Sarsgaard and Dennis Hopper.
Diego Luna will join the cast of “Milk,” per Variety.
Luna joins the already cast Sean Penn and the aforementioned Josh Brolin in the Gus Van Sant biopic of gay rights activist and former San Francisco politician Harvey Milk.
The film, which also stars Emile Hirsch, James Franco and Victor Garber, follows the story of Harvey Milk (Penn), the first openly gay elected official in America, voted to San Francisco's city supervisors’ board in 1977. The following year, both he and Mayor George Moscone were assassinated by another city supervisor, Dan White (to be played by Brolin).
Luna’s other film credits include “Y tu mama tambien,” “Nicotina” and “The Terminal.”
“Saturday Night Live” vet Tim Meadows will join Ashley Tisdale in the comedy “They Came From Upstairs,” per The Hollywood Reporter.
“Upstairs” follows a group of teenagers who must defend their Maine summer home from a group of aliens who have invaded the house.
It marks the feature film debut for “High School Musical” star Tisdale.
Meadows, who most recently shared the screen with John C. Reilly in “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” will play Sheriff Doug Armstrong.
Also added to the cast is Gillian Vigman, who will play Tisdale’s mom.
